Pentax DA 35/2.8 Macro Limited: First Shots
Posted By: tux08902, 04-23-2008, 07:12 PM

I've been on the hunt for a general purpose prime lens to replace my Pentax DA 18-55/3.5-5.6 zoom with. I received my Pentax DA 35/2.8 Macro Limited, and I think this is the most useful lens I've ever used. It's wide yet narrow and offers the natural perspective of the human eye. It is also a macro lens, which makes it great for close-up work as well. The max aperture is 2.8, which is relatively fast. I didn't get a chance to take this lens outside, but here are some of the first shots I took with it. This lens is absolutely brilliant. I did not do any sharpening in post-processing, only brightness and contrast adjustments on one or two of these shots. Otherwise, this lens renders beautifully. Only thing I would've liked is a focus limiter, the AF can be slow and a bit dodgy sometimes due to the 1:1 magnification.

Thanks, ivoire. I want to add some effects to that picture. I have a couple in mind. I really like the first picture. It's really shows the macro capabilities of this lens. Plus, the way this lens renders, there is no need for PPing. At least in most cases there shouldn't be.

Thanks k100d. It does seem like months ago. It probably was, but money's always tight especially when you're getting ready to go off to college and only in high school. You have no real source of income except some short-term jobs you may have here and there. However, I'm glad I saved up for this. I fell in love with this lens the moment I tried it. It's brilliant.

Here's a post-processed version of the first picture. What does everyone think of this?
