Mecum Auction - Some Aging Exotics
Lens: DA 15/4 and FA 31/1.8 Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Reliant Center, Houston, TX
Posted By: Sailor, 04-28-2014, 06:16 AM

With this post, I'm nearing the end of working through all the shots I took at the Mecum Auction in Houston in mid April. The cars pictured here are, in some cases, showing their age, but like the classy ladies they are, retain their beauty.

Jer

1994 Ferrari F348 Spider:

That was some show Jer.

I love the old Ferraris but to be honest I like them a little older than these. The Ferrari Dino is probably my favorite model from this maker.

Of this group I especially like the Acura NSX. One of my neighbors has one. It sits pretty low to the ground and getting in and out might pose some issues for a vintage gentleman of my age.

I have always loved Ferraris but as a friend once told me that you might be able to buy one, it's the maintenance that you can't afford. I watched part of the auction on cable, lots of beauties there buddy, thanks for sharing some more with us.

Thanks for showing these old beauties, Jer. Agreed, the wheels on the black one are a bit too shiny. The NSX, badged as a Honda here, still looks good on the road.

Richard.

Thanks, Steve. And, yeah, the guy who put those wheels on should go down in the Car Guy Hall of Shame.

Glad you like the photos, my friend. I'm aging, but there's nothing exotic about me!

I love the Dino, too, Tom - they've become quite valuable in recent years, I think. That NSX was pristine - if that car sold, someone got a fine machine.

I'm happy you like this series, brother Bob. Actually we ran into a guy at the auction, who was thinking of going for one of these cars - he knew what he was about, and mentioned that you had to budget at least five grand a year - just for routine maintenance. Another acquaintance, who owns a 2005 Lambo Mercy, told me that he spends about ten thousand bucks a year on the car. Porsches are bad enough, these things are off the scale.

Thanks for looking, Richard. I still like the NSX, as well.
