Saying this is soft is an understatement

I personally dig it. Sears 135 2.8 macro (1:5) I picked up from a forum member. Shot wide open. only PP was minor exposure and color treatment. No sharpening or blurring whatsoever. Like a dream soft! can't wait to try some portraits. What do you think?

Your own soft focus lens... cool.
Should do real well with those high-key style portraits!

The soft focus effect can be quite nice at times. I've done it post-processing a few times where it works. At least in PPing, key is to not overdo it, cause it doesn't work well with every photo. Of course, for you it's the lens. I agree this picture is very nice.

I like it!

Where it lacks in detail contrast, it more than makes up for it in color contrast! The subject pops, even without focus.

Nice shot!

That's pretty cool. I'm going to see if any of my lenses will give similar softness wide open. Thanks for sharing.

I just got this lens, recently, and I love it. I just shot a couple thousand images with it over three performances of a highschool play. I was quite pleased with the results.

well, my count only ranges in the 20's so far! were you shooting wide open? I wonder how it would do at that kind of distance.

I'm not even sure if mine has the pin, don't know what to look for,
Its been smooth changing the lens, guess I'm lucky, good luck.

Got three of the four screws out by chilling the lens and ruining my hands. Think I stripped the fourth.

This thread describes what to look for. Be sure to do what I did not and buy a really good #0 Phillips screwdriver.
