Steer 'rasslin'!
Posted By: rfortson, 04-25-2008, 08:24 AM

Let's rodeo! These were taken at the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo. Since it's a small affair, you can get as close as you want to the action. First shot taken with the K20D and the DA*50-135 with the 360 flash, 135mm, 1/180s, f/2.8, ISO 2000 (some noise reduction in PP, no in-camera):

Second shot taken with the K20D, DA*200, 360 flash, 200mm, 1/180s, f/2.8, ISO 2000 (no noise reduction added):

Yeeeee Haw!

For all you pixel-peepers out there, you can see the full-sized shots on my Flickr stream.

Only in Texas

Only in Texas can the girls be that pretty and ride horses as well.

Great shots Russ.

They make me homesick.

Hey, Ed in TX does have a nice ring to it.

Come on down, Ed. We've got plenty of room, and the housing crunch really hasn't hit here (prices weren't inflated to begin with).

As for the rodeo queen, she was/is a real doll. Not hard to photograph at all. Even my wife commented on her looks.

Thanks! That's the good ol' 50-135 for ya! It really works great on my K20D.

Always nice to see pics from fellow Texans, even if they are from Houston .
