Pretty cool ornament, love the chrome, looks good in b/w. Did they have it locked unto the radiator?

Thanks, Norbert. This shot just screamed for B&W. I think I'll also try cropping it more tightly around the ornament and see what that does for me.

Thanks, Heinrich - it didn't appear to be locked on. This was one of over a thousand cars in Houston's Reliant Center three weeks being offered for sale at a big car auction . . . . so it wasn't just sitting on the street.

I'm glad you liked it, Ivan - pretty ornate stuff made in those days.

Beautiful!

Great photo, Jer! Love the circular Bokeh of the highlights, fine B+W conversion, too.
Ah, yes, hood ornaments, remember those? I knew the end was near when Mercedes Benz started making the "Y" circle ornament flexible, so they wouldn't impale slow/innocent/unwary/oblivious pedestrians.
Hey, if a Merc whacks you head-on with any speed, that little disc is the least of your problems!
But, I digress....

Hey Ron, thanks much - and Yeah, I remember them. In the early '50s my Dad drove Pontiacs with Indian head ornaments, once of which - IIRC - actually lit up when the lights were on.

I miss seeing hood ornaments, I think the car co's should put them back, but they might be considered projectiles or something, but then so is all the junk on the dash of everyone's vehicles, lol.

They certainly were popular back in the day. I'm more than happy living without them.
