FA 85mm f/2.8 Soft
Posted By: HermanLee, 04-26-2008, 08:16 PM

My newly friend.
A very unique lens indeed. It's hard to get sharp...well, that's why it's called Soft
I need to practice more with it to understand the characteristic of it.
Here are some shots today that I want to share:

Ethereal. Very fitting to beautiful high key subjects like soft feathery flowers.
Thanks for sharing.

As a portrait lens (weddings, mom and baby) I can se the use. The roses shot is very nice. I can see this being tough to get used to.

Ive lways wondered what the result was from one of the 'soft' lenses. Would you mind taking a quick portrait of someone so we can get an idea of what that looks like please.

I would love, like others, to see this used as a portrait lens. It looks quick promising.
Also the roses shots in quite nice.

Thanks

Thanks

Thank you for the comments, guys.
I will try to take some portrait shots with it and post it here.
Yes, it needs some practice before I can get used to this lens. It's very different than regular lens.
The good thing about the FA version compared to F version (according to Dimitrov website) is that with FA we can use 1.4XTC to make it as a 120mm Macro 1:3 without darkening the VF.
I will try that as well.
I just don't know whether it will work with my Tamron 1.4x or should be another TC.
But anyway, I'll give it a try and post them here as soon as I got a chance.

Some Portrait w/ FA 85mm/2.8 Soft

I just took a couple quick shots of my fiancee.
It's already dark here so shots are taken with room light no flash.
Maybe next time I'll take it at better lighting condition.
Buddha & Mikhail, hopefully these are fine for you for now.
Thanks for the compliment, Peter.

Here are the portrait samples:
#1 f/2.8

#2 f/11 Not too much soft effect
