Posted By: darthku, 04-26-2008, 11:45 PM

Picked up a new telephoto today, 70-300 F4-5.6. Even w/ anti-shake its hard to keep her steady at 300mm.

70mm, F/4, ISO400

300mm, F/5.6, ISO400

Maybe you could try some panning shots with it. RB or WR running across the field..?

Thanks

Are you sure it wasn't the subject that was doing the shaking?

Is this some kind of indoor mini-NFL game? I have never seen shots of it before, so some info would be great. Thanks!

What I will sometimes do with my Tammy is intentionally underexpose by 1EV or so just to get my shutter speed up, then just process the RAW to reenable the exposure.

I've found if I can't get the shutter to at least 1/250, I back off the zoom a little (the reciprocal of focal length rule). Then, that gives me a better chance at having a clearer crop. I'd take a clear crop at around 220mm over a blurred 300mm any day.

Oh, and thanks for the shots! I've been mentally wondering how the Tam 70-300 does indoors. Also, you gave me an idea for sports shooting -- we have arena football here and I would have never considered going to a game before! (yes, I'm slow)

Yup its Arena football.

They almost didn't let me take in b/c of the 70-300. They said it looked like a "professional" lens.
