Lens: Sigma 70-200 f2.8 + Sigma 1.4 teleconverter Camera: Pentax K5 Photo Location: western NY ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F5.6

Summer-like temps finally arrived here in western NY. Just sitting in my backyard relaxing and watching the goldfinches and sparrows at my feeder.
A bright blue bird I've never seen before around here appeared. I hurried inside to grab my gear and catch a pic before it flew away.
A bit of research led me to believe it's an Indigo Bunting. I lived in WNY my entire life and have never seen one before. I thought it might be a rare sighting, but they can be found across the entire eastern US.

At least I was able to try out my recently acquired Sigma 70-200 and Sigma 1.4 teleconverter. I'm really pleased with both.

Nice! Makes me want to get a bird feeder like that. I've been thinking of hand-crafting one, but it's also nice to buy the type you have here. Great bird shots.

We will see an Indigo Bunting only a couple times a year. Yesterday and today we've had one hanging around. A truly beautiful bird to see!

Yes, the bunting!
We have them here, but they're surprisingly tricky to spot sometimes. I know what they sound like, though, so I know they're back there...

We're getting lots of migrants back now, too. Great captures with these guys! I don't think I've seen a white-crowned sparrow ON a feeder before.
