I was a little late to the party for wildflowers this year here the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (at least in the mid-elevations) but there's always something to see...
In this case, rattlesnake plantain pushing up through bracken that has already had its time in the sun:
(Sharp eyes will see a little squawroot as well...)
And of course, in our numerous seeps, there's always a riot of vegetation...mostly brook lettuce, stinging nettle, and a foam flower or two:
Not quite our marquee lineup of trillium, lady's slipper and the like, but enough to be grateful for on a beautiful early summer afternoon...
