Strangely soft to be honest - perhaps little be out of focus ? I suppose with 1000m lens one could get in trouble with focusing
Anyway photographing the moon is a difficult thing as I found myself trying to do that not so long ago. I didn't do that well altogether but I would like to link my thread for you because other forum members gave me loads of good info on how to achieve the best results. LINK: My first attempt to shoot the Moon :)

Yep, moon shotz can be problematic. You can get the focus and exposure perfect, but then a waft of atmospheric ripple shows up and it looks like you shot it in a bathtub with kids splashing. LOL
Is this a Celestron? I have an Opteka 500 cat and the Celestron 1000 cat. I use my Rokinon 650-1300 more than the cats.

I have a Celestron C-90 I bought in the early 80's. I've never been able to get any moon shots clearer than this. The lens isn't very sharp to begin with. The contrast is a bit low too. An improvised lens hood isn't much help there. The field of view is so narrow that you can actually see the moon moving through the FOV.

EXIF says 1/13 sec shutter. Even on a tripod that's slow for 1000mm. Increasing the ISO from 100 to 800 will yield a 1/100 sec shutter. See if that gives a sharper image. Use the 2 second timer to decrease camera shake (which will also turn off shake reduction, which should generally be off on a tripod anyway).

Yeah, an old Celestron cat. That's why I said I was "playing" - yes, the lens is soft and not too contrasty, but in a cool, old-school sort of way...
