Some of my todays macros
Posted By: photolady95, 05-15-2014, 05:05 PM

I thought I'd post a couple I got this afternoon. My macro rig at the moment is a Pentax F Zoom lens, 28-80mm Macro @80mm with a Raynox DCR-250. These were handheld, on Manual as always, flash set for +0.3 EV.

AIt rained today, most of the day so I went outside after the rain slowed down and shot these few.

Thanks everyone for the comments and compliments. I meant to tell you these were shot with my K-x, not the K-30.

Thanks Bob. I have both Raynox diopters and each takes some getting used to using. Check my flickr, last month I did a single in challenge with a Pentax A 50mm f2, three closeups and the Raynox DCR-250, this month I doing another with the DCR-150 on my Pentax DA 50-200mm WR lens.

And now, well, on Thursday my new to me Sigma 105 2.8 Ex Dg Macro Af will be here. I got a good deal on this lens and have been wanting since viewing the photos that Eaglem has taken with his. But prices back a few years ago were out of my budget range. This week, I was looking on Adorama to see what they had in their used dept, and came across this one for a measly $240 plus shipping. I just couldn't pass it up.

Really looking forward to seeing some pictures through that Sigma 105 ...

I'll tell you, I've been dreaming about this lens for about four years. The first time I checked the price it was over $400, then the next time I checked it was at $350, so finally it comes down low enough for me to buy it and I didn't hesitate much, about 5 seconds, checked bank, enough and then some, and it was bought. Now I have to sell some gear to get partial payment back. LOL

Yeah , I have to remember to sell of the stuff I dont want or need ..
Sold my K100D , it has a new owner now ..
Next to go , my K7 , its a good camera but not so good for Macro for some reason . My K10D is a better Macro camera ...
Yeah , that Sigma 105 is on my Must own list along with the Tamron 90mm 1:1
Too many wants and not enough dough to make it all a reality !
I might concentrate on getting those two lenses , and worry about bodies later down the track ( a good lens is a good lens ) .

Well cant wait to see how it goes for you .. ( Got my fingers crossed for you )

My first DSLR was the K100D. My avatar was taken with that camera. I sold it when I bought the K-x. I don't plan on selling either of my cameras, the K-x or the K-30. But some lenses have to go. I prefer those either with an A on them or the DA FA F lenses. I have two DAs and two A lenses. I also have one Sears/Samyang 135mm M f2.8. I like it though it's not and A lens, it still works pretty good. And sharp too. I did a single in challenge last year with it, and I was happy with the results.
I have a Sigma DL Macro 70-300mm I paid $47 for on KEH. Of course the Macro is something like 1:4. But does a decent job of far away subjects, like the dragonflies that refuse to land near me.
I have one Pentax 50mm f2 m lens, and one same A lens, then I have a Pentax A 28mm f2.8 I bought here on the MP. I still need a 35mm A lens, but not in any hurry to get that one after this last purchase, lens buying will be on hold for a few months.
I'm on a limited income. I had saved the money to get the Sigma 105mm f2.8.

My Sigma arrived today. But haven't had a chance to use it, it rained most of the afternoon after the lens arrived. Anyway, here is a Single in I took using the DCR-150 and the Pentax 50-200mm DA WR, it's still macro:

The insignia of Sigma is pasted in but I was told the texture on the barrel and the DG is significant to tell it's a Sigma lens.

Maybe this afternoon. First I have to get today's single in photo first. Then I have some grocery shopping to do. Hopefully, it won't rain again today. But if it does, maybe I can get some rain drops with scenes in them. We'll just have to wait and see.

I am really happy I found this lens. Seems like I wanted one forever.
