Weekend in East Texas
Posted By: dws1117, 04-28-2008, 07:34 PM

My wife and I spent our 9th wedding anniversary at the same place where we honeymooned. This is a small plot of land (300 acres) that has been in her family for many years and is used by the whole family as recreational property. There is a small house with indoor plumbing and electricity being the only amenities. It is located about 20 miles east of Nacogdoches, TX, USA.

All the lenses in the bag were used for one shot or another.

Great shots Wayne.

That's beautiful country up the in the Piney woods of Deep East Texas. My sales territory years ago included Nacogdoches, Timpson, Teneha, Center, San Augustine and the area around lake Sam Rayburn.

I love that area.

Thanks, Ed. We do to. Each time we are there we joke about quitting our jobs and just staying there.

BTW Have you tried the new lens yet?

Wayne, I didn't get the lens until around 4:30this afternoon and it started raining about 10 mintues later. So, I didn't get any shots in that were worth showing.

Maybe tomorrow during the noon hour I can get some and post them tomorrow evening.

Dang Wayne.. that is quite the look you captured on the last shot of the cow/bull.. With those little pointy horns and all.... I would be careful!!!!

This is a great series with some wonderful shots.. I think my favorite though is the orange yellow bottle with the green background.. very nice!!!

Thanks for sharin, Kim

Pretty nice y'all have got there, Wayne. Hope you didn't actually touch that Bull Nettle? Are those sumac that I see in the first picture?

And this is from a guy who's much more partial to Central and West Texas.

Nope give the Bull Nettle a wide berth. Don't know whether it's sumac or not. Also, I do prefer east Texas. Only been out west once and then only stopped for potty breaks and central is ok, except the hill country. Don't get out there near as much as I'd like.

Congratulations on your 9th anniversary. This past December, my lovely bride and I celebrated our 40th. Hope yours goes that long, and more.

I enjoyed your pics. I have a lot of family down in the Corpus Christi / McAllen area, and my brother and his family are in Huntsville.
