4 macro's and closeup flowers
Posted By: little laker, 04-29-2008, 02:26 AM

While in Osoyoos I did a little more closeup photography, and these 4 turned out not too bad. Although they're nothing all that special either.

I blew the corners of this one out

Yellows are another colour that can be tough.

Nice flowers Stu. I swear I'll take some flower pics ... if only we had some. We had some fairly warm weather last week but today it is below freezing and I heard some fool mention snow!

Thanks for the reality check with the 'real' world.

Well done Stu - Yellow is hard for sure and there are a few blown highlights but overall they are very well done.

Tanks Jeff,

I sure hope that spring arrives before next winter.
It's pouring outside today and I've heard that snow word mentioned as well.

On the weekends trip to scout a future assignment I wasn't really surprised to see some lakes still frozen over. Although these lakes would have usually been ice free 4 or 6 weeks ago

Just a Pentax 50mm 2.8 macro, with a remote flash. Nothing special.
If done right (and I messed up a little on #1) you can really only see what the flash reflects light off of, darkening in the background.

Thanks Dave,
I tried a different exposure, hoping to fix the blown highlights. But it was just too dark for my likings

Wow ... the colours saturation is nice though.
Yellow is difficult at times (just as bad as white really).
You have done really well especially with the available lighting.

The flash helps in the fact that it does darken the background a fair bit removing a lot of distracting items that would have otherwise shown up on a longer exposure/no flash shot.
