I noticed this small bird hanging out on a buried pipe in my driveway. It would fly away, and return. I happened to be holding my K-3 and Cosina 55mm, but it was almost dark.



Curious, I looked inside the pipe and saw a nest with four eggs, maybe 15 inches down! Today I came back with a D/FA 100mm Macro and a flashlight...

Hatchlings! Due to several factors, I've had doubts about the wisdom of this nest location. In fact, it seems a rather birdbrained piece of engineering. However, so far so good- although this looks like one of those latex monsters from The Thing...
