A few flower close-up's
Posted By: Chilious, 09-26-2006, 05:59 PM

Here are a few pictures taken this Sunday in Oklahoma City's Myriad Botanical Garden.

The first picture is taken with a Pentax A 50mm, the others with a Cosmicar 70-200mm (and for the last one I used also some extension tubes).
As always, C&C is most welcome.

Good stuff!

Nice to see I'm not the only one playing with close-ups.

The first shot is by far the sharpest on my monitor. At first I thought it was supposed to orient the other way and wondered about your crop. Then I realized the bloom and leaves are leaning.

Now, is it just me, or does the second last flower look like it has a little duckling in the center?

A few flower close- ups

Well done Chilious,
I like all of the flowers the shots are georgus and you did a nice job. I guess we have a nack for taking flower shots. I really enjoy the colors and the close-ups.

Good Shooting.

That's strange. Maybe the smugmug server was down when you read my post.

Now that you mention it, you're right. It resembles a duckling.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Nice shots That's one of the reasons I want a dSLR for: talking close ups of flowers. Very pretty.

Thankfully I can see them now. They seem to be a little soft and that's something we all need to get used to when doing close-ups or macro.

Experimenting with tubes - I think you're gonna have a difficult time getting anything sharp when shooting a whole flower using tubes - much DOF is lost the second you add distance between the back of the lens and the focal plane.
