Airship Snoopy #1

Saw this today at our local general aviation airport during trip back from store. Ground crew member was terrific in explaining so much of the day in day out operations and maintenance such as Helium conditioner. Kwik tie and small ring are all that tethers the blimp to its mooring. Snoopy 1 is the only one of this group that has thrust reversers as seen in #4 which enables much easier landings. This airship primarily follows PGA tournaments for television broadcasts. As temperature was rising towards 90F, the tail began to lift and reversed course on the tether.

Neat shots! I bet they would be fun to fly.

Um, "helium conditioner"? To keep the helium from getting the "frizzies"?

Racer, the ground crewman said due to the expense and difficulty of getting Helium that he had just injected 5 tanks of material to extend the working properties of the Helium. He said it was to absorb accumulated moisture. YMMV?
