Rainbow Lorikeets [5 imgs]
Posted By: AML, 04-30-2008, 11:27 PM

I was fortunate enough to have a Rainbow Lorikeet land on the balcony railing not to far away from me a few weeks ago.

All pics were taken with the Schneider 50-200mm lens @200mm.

This one was taken on a different day. They do love eating their apples.

Thanks Scott. It wasn't rain. The white streaks are cobwebs that the camera picked up.
Cobwebs, amazing that the camera got them. Thanks!

Man I get a few crows in the yard lately thats all. Lucky to have such willing models. 1&2 seem a little out of focus but the rest are great. Nice work
Thanks! We have crows and magpies in abundance here atm. You are right about 1&2, i'll have to work harder at getting a better focus next time.

Will do my best.
I really want to try and get them ... it will only be in flight though if they are close enough though.

I was reading the Australian Wildlife magazine today and they had a great shot of a black cockatoo, beautiful looking birds. I hope you are fortunate enough to get some shots, look forward to seeing them.

They sure are Geekybiker. They are quite territorial, our local ones have breed in the same area for a few years now.
It's a shame you couldn't get close enough while in Adelaide.

Thanks Bramela. You are lucky to have Rosellas, i see very few of them where i am.
The lori's do love to hide themselves high up and deep among the leaves, don't they.

Thanks for the heads up on the Special on the ABC, i will definitely watch it!.

Fantastic!, I had to check your country (Australia) to wholly grasp that you were actually talking about wild birds, that can come and sit at your balcony, just like that!

Looks like it has a nice temper with a hint of curiosity at your lens.

You must radiate a lot of positive energy
