Another A 50 2.8 thread...
Lens: A50 2.8 Camera: K5 Photo Location: UT Gardens ISO: 80
Posted By: CreationBear, 06-18-2014, 06:10 AM

Kerrowdown inspired me to swing by the gardens on campus this morning to christen my A-series macro:

Still a bit cack-handed when it comes to macros compared to the real pros on the board (I blame the wind) but think this lens will stay in the bag come next spring for my adventures afield.

Addendum: this one gives you a bit better idea what the lens can do if you hit focus:

I'm glad to see you putting her to good use, are you pleased with her?

Absolutely, but you're hogging all the good nicknames.

At any rate, I think we were looking at the same application--"casual macro" I suppose--and with its 1:2 ratio and lack of AF, it makes for a really tidy package. I don't have your MF skills so it will be a challenge as a true "walk around" lens for me, but at about a third of the price of the DA35 Limited, I'm willing to shoulder the Benbo and soldier on.

You can blame ChristianRock for this one, as he named my “Femme Fatale" for me. So does this mean it's not just me then that names lenses then...

I use Benbo as well, but I find the Benbo Mk 2 a bit awkward to shoulder, what kind of strap arrangement are you using to do this?

Actually, I was just speaking metaphorically (I do that more than I should)--I usually have my Trekker tucked in a wand pocket on my backpack when I'm hill-walking and not just poncing about. I think it makes a nice "macro" tripod, but its plastic "knuckle" would probably limit how heavy a head (or chunk of glass) you'd want to use.

At any rate, I'll look forward to what comes out of that "A-team" harem next.

Absolutely gorgeous. I never tire of flower photos... especially when they are creatively shot, like these.

A belated thanks (been on travel the past week)--Br'er Mole still sets the standard in my neck of the woods but I'm excited about having a new toy to play with.
