Traveling the lower 48 on a Forty-five day Amtrak Rail Pass; from three days before Thanksgiving to three days after the new year.

Very cool. I'm sure you will see a lot of small towns like that traveling around the midwest by rail. I know I did back when I used to ride the rails on regular basis.

I have traveled cross country numerous times by rail, auto, or motorcycle and am always reminded that "America", the "United States", isn't L.A., New York, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, etc. It's all the places in-between that make up the majority of the population in this country. Only about 10% of the population in the U.S. live in a city with 1 million people or more. Twenty percent still live in truly rural areas.
