The start of the trip

The boy and I left a couple of days early as we wanted to stop in Golden for some rafting. Here's a few from the Journey.

#1 It's pretty rare to see bears so close to the highway but we saw about 5 in 10 minutes in one stretch.

#2 - Little closer look

#3 - Mountain streams are about every 100 meters or so. No slow shutter here.

#4 - When we checked into the hotel about an hour later the fire alarm went off. We were on the third floor fortunately. A main water line broke and flooded the first floor.

** These two were taken by the photographer they have on staff so not a Pentax - but worth showing. They quide also had a gopro on his helmet and there was a mount on the front of the raft. The video are very cool. ***

#5 - The reason we left early. White water rafting on the Kicking horse river. The water was highest of the season (lower canyon was closed too dangerous with rapids hitting class 5). We have done this quite a bit and it never gets old! If you go always try and get the fron seats best ride

#6 - Getting a little wet. The water temperature is about 4 degrees C all year as this river is glacier fed. It wakes you up in a hurry !

Very cool bear photos...they're thick on the ground here in the Smokies of course, but we don't have the cinnamon-phase common in the Rockies.

Thanks CreaationBear it was a pretty rare site despite their numbers. I have travelled that highway many time and only the second time I have seen bears.
