The sunsets and sunrises at the state park where my family and I stayed this past week were surprisingly lacking in color and character all week, at least from the vantage points I tried. That was remedied nicely on the drive home last night. I got these shots as my wife drove.

Lack of color works - of the three, I find the first one the most interesting in part because all the contrast is intrinsic to the clouds unlike the other two where trees and other landscape objects add to the contrast.

Thanks Heinrich. I was fortunate that we drove past an opening in the forest just as the sky reached those colors.

Appreciate the comments, Mark. All three scenes were a treat for me, as the sky absolutely refused to cooperate all week. We'd have great blue skies with billowing clouds all day, and an hour before sunset, the clouds would begin to quickly dissipate. One time I got up an hour before dawn to hike to a bluff near the lake for what I was sure to be a grand sunrise, only to find the clouds that had rolled in after dark the previous evening had magically vanished completely. Hence the title of my thread.
