Those are excellent, Hans. I've only had one good sighting of a bear in the wild, and it sprinted away so fast I couldn't get a photo.

You got a lot more up close and personal than I did in Yellowstone in May. Great series of bears in the wild!

Geeesss !!! You were actually quite close to the mom and cub!

I wouldn't dare getting this close to that.
Great shots!

Thank you Tony, Bear sightings depend on the season, you find them where the food is, early Spring there is not much except grass and dandelions and they sure like the dandelions.

Thank you for the kind words but there is a lot of luck involved.

Hi Bob and thank you. This time there were a lot of bears around and they were totally focused on feeding. All of these images were taken from the road and never more than 50 feet off the road. I have never had a problem with bears but am super careful and aware of my surroundings. I rather forgo the picture than risk bodily harm, besides at 82 I am not as agile as I used to be.

Thank you JP and yes I was at times pretty close to some bears but also very close to my vehicle.(if not in it)

And I thought stuff was supposed to be big in Texas - these look like monsters! I smiled at the first one: the bear appears to have a tooth pick in his mouth. Great shots, Heinrich, as always.

Thanks Jer, some are larger than others, the tooth pick is a dandelion stem.

Am really enjoying this and your other wildlife photos - well-illustrates both the "critters" and your talented hands & eyes.

Was out at Rocky Fork this past Monday and saw plenty of black bears - but none close enough for photos. These must be much bolder than hours, or else you are much more patient than I...

Mole, thank you for the kind words. This Spring I saw more Black Bears than the last 4 years combined. It was a late Spring and not much food on higher elevations so they come down to feed on dandelions and whatever else is handy. Dandelions grow along the roadside so that is where the bears are. None of these pictures were taking more than 50 feet of the road, most of them right by the road side.
