What kind of bees are these? · 07:49 PM

The centers of black eyed susans are only about 1/2" across.These friendly workers are not even 1/2 that size but they do gather pollen like there's no tomorrow.Are they a particular type of bee or a hover fly? Someone in the Pentax universe should know.

I think a mason bee of some sort - maybe in the Osmia family.
It's very difficult to identify exact species from one photo - head, mandible, underside details are usually required.

great closeup Charlie, he's so full of pollen I think he would have a hard time flying.

Probably Andrena sp. or an Anthophorinae sp.. Very hard to tell from this angle but certainly not Osmia.
