more from George Benson show (5 img)
Posted By: rfortson, 01-28-2007, 11:14 AM

I went to see George Benson last night and managed to take a bunch of shots (don't worry, I won't post ALL of them ). I posted one shot last night before bed (https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/2681-breezin.html). I used my K100D and my SMC-A 135mm f/2.8. Security was lax so I was able to get as close as I wanted.

These are great! I would love to try out my cam in a concert situation.

The colours are great and these would look good as album art if he were to release a cd of this performance.

Was the focussing done manually or was the auto focus upto the task??

Thanks D! I shot all of these with an older manual focus Pentax lens. For the most part, I got decent focus. I recently bought the Pentax magnifying eyepiece (1.2x magnification) and it's just enough to really help me get the focus.

I was surprised that almost all my shots came out overexposed, even though I was using spot metering. Fortunately I shoot raw only, so I was able to adjust them in post processing.

Thanks again for the compliments. I was really pleased with how these came out.

There is something about the last one I find very appealing. How about a square crop using the left side of the photo? Make a good album cover of that one.

Good point. I'll try it out and repost it here later.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi!

The space of a composition is the most successful in last photo.

The best regards!

P.S. The link " Helicon products " on my site "Erased a hieroglyph" already works.

You got the audience, the stage lighting and George beautifully in the last one. I think that's what made it so appealing. It had all the elements of the concert and you can feel the excitement in the shot.

LOL - I bet we'll see a video clip from the cellphone in the front row in YouTube soon. I'm surprised they allowed flash photography from the front row too. Stofen in the spotlight

Wow! Very impressive, you have your manual focus technique down pat! I really like #2, very sharp, great colour rendition and the composition is great. Good job
