Ha, reminds me of the famous entry in Dr Johnson's Dictionary:

OATS n.s. [aten, Saxon.] A grain, which in England is generally given to horses, but in Scotland supports the people.

At any rate, a great shot--those lochs make a great backdrop for everything, it seems.

Thanks very much, aye Loch Ness taken from the front door just before the heavens opened, a fine Scottish Summers day.

Ha, I've been rained on more than while on that loch, but I don't think I've been rained on more often.

A question--how do you go about exposing for that scene, especially with the foreground precluding (I suppose) grad filters? The fact that shimmery pool of light near the far shore isn't blown out has me scratching my head (unless of course they're marketing some sort of "Celtic Angst" plug-in or PS "action" these days.
)

No grads, all in camera.

Just expose for the highlights (giving about four stops under on the foreground) lock the exposure and recompose image.

In PP, a slight tweak/boost to the shadows... just enough to give a little foreground detail, a highlight tweak/boost to pop the whites and then add a post crop vignette to darken down corners and there you have it.

Outstanding...there will be a brace of Belhaven's lifted in your honor (more, if I can find a couple of stout lads to see me home.)

There'd better be more than a brace consumed, unless you wish to be titled a lightweight and that's without homeward bound assistance.

Very nice capture, but I was sort of hoping for a peek at Nessie.

You won't get a peek at Nessie with just a brace of Belhaven's. You would need a substantial amount of something like this stuff for that...

On my way! Well, we're having a spell of Scottish weather here now, so maybe later...
Here at the cabin I have a rather limited range of goodies to choose from. So, should I start with the Lagavulin or the Caol Ila? With some effort I might spot Nessie on holiday out on the fjord

I'm an Islay whisky man, so I have a selection of Laphroaigs, Ardbegs, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Bowmore and so with yours that's nearly a Islay full set.
