Dusted off the FA 50
Lens: smc P-FA 50mm F1.4 Camera: K-5 ISO: 800 Aperture: F2

Ever since we had our first child 6 months ago I've been shooting exclusively with my Sigma 30mm prime. I decided to dust off my FA 50 last week and snapped a couple. What do you guys think?

I thought bokeh came out nice and smooth. Lighting was pretty bad from an old ceiling fan with harsh yellow incandescent lights, but nothing some photoshop couldn't fix.

Very sharp pictures, beautiful bokeh at f/2. FA 50 doesn't disappoint here. Some of my favorite pictures of my kids were with the FA 50. I don't have the Sigma 30 -- how do you think it compares to the FA 50, not taking into account the focal length difference?

The Sigma has faster AF. It is tack sharp in the center. I find it quite enjoyable to use indoors. I haven't had any issue with mine. For some reason I just stopped using my FA50 for the longest time. Here are some samples of the Sigma:

I seemed to have hijacked my own FA50 thread and turned it into the Sigma 30 thread!

Those are some nice pictures with your Sigma 30! I may have to get one (old or new version) someday... Thank you for sharing these images and your comments in comparing the lenses. It's funny because I think my FA 50 has very fast AF but if the Sigma is even faster, then woah!

Congrats on the birth of your child, by the way! We have two kids under the age of 4. Such wonderful subject matter for candids!

No problem. I'm sure you'll love the Sigma 30. And thanks, I find myself shooting a bit more since we added the little one.
