I don't believe it! Birding shot... (unintentional)
Posted By: Marc Langille, 01-28-2007, 01:02 PM

Well,

I shot this one in bright daylight, with my Pentax-A 2X-S mounted between my FA*300/2.8 and the K10D.

Cropped, and roughly 50% of original image.

Taken at F/5.6, 1/350 sec., ISO 1600:

Sharpened some via USM in CS2, and normal sharpening levels with the script I frame it with.

I know it's not eye-popping, but I am really surprised at how well it turned out, given my goof on the ISO and the fact that it's a black subject. I guess that says something about this TC and the FA* 300/2.8 optics.

Cheers,
Marc

Not bad for a major crop at ISO1600! Can you do anything about the CA, though? There's a quite noticeable blue fringe on the wings and tail. Seems to me that's usually pretty easy to fix, at least if you're shooting raw.

Lovely sheen on the shoulder feathers, it's a really handsome bird. What is it, some kind of magpie?
