Nice angle Bob. Just hope you put your ear on the rail first to listen for the train.

With this sort of shot you need a damsel in distress tied down to the tracks, like in the old black and white silent movies....

Very intersting perspective, Bob! I hope there's not much traffic on these tracks
Thanks for sharing this shot.

The trains that run on this track are all steam trains and you can hear them coming down the line Trev.

Oh my, but how I wished I could still get down that low! I have DJD (Degenerative Joint Disease) and my hips and back just will not allow me the flexability to do things such as that any longer. I often see shots that I'd dearly love to take but forego because of the pain involved. Very nice perspective.... and yes, the damsel was Tess Trueheart and the villian was Snidley Whiplash.

What lens did you use to take this great photo?

Nice shot in a beautiful area. Can't wait to see what else you shoot today. Are you going to Ouray?

You would be surprised how quiet a 90 ton loco with 230 tons of train can be, especially downhill!

In the UK all railways after 1842 had to be fenced in - unlike the US and Australia where railways were unfenced and landowners were expected to fence there animals in to prevent them wandering on to tracks.

Oh I love that idea and I'm going to ask my wife, she'll do it, right?

thanks so much Norbert, not much traffic at all, just a couple of trains on this private track that goes up in the mountains each day, my wife still cautioned me though about playing on the RR tracks.

For the sake of photographic art, most certainly do it.

However I cannot condone playing around on rail tracks, being the responsible individual that I am.

well I bought the rope and she said NO, I explained your explanation of "photographic art" but she said that was just too crazy. Now we have left the campground and my chance for my single best photo is gone.
