Happy - my friend and companion.
Aug, 1993 - Aug 19, 2014

-------------------------------------------------------

For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more
complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with
extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by
voices we shall never hear. They are not bretheren; they are not
underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of
life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the
Earth'

What a beauty and so sorry for your loss. My kitty is unwell and the vet suspects it might be cancer so I feel your pain. We will find out more on Friday. Sad as they are both 11 and that isn't old for cats.

I too share your pain, my friend. Such a wonderful quote you posted. I have copied and pasted it in a file where I keep such beautiful things. The photo is priceless! Thank you for allowing us into your life.

Your welcome.
I'm not normally someone to bring in matters of my personal life but sometimes you just need to express what you feel to others.

Thanks all for your kind thoughts

21 years ..

I feel for your loss . I guess some people like cats , others dogs , and me ! , I like em both ! And I have lost both , I have lost good ones and bad ones , but always felt something was missing in their passing .
The best way to get over a lost pet , is to get another one . Not to replace or forget , but simply to care for another .
Because thats what pet owners are supposed to do , care !

We still have one cat left - Sonny.
Very different from Happy. Semi-feral and a hunting machine, loves the dark of the basement where he can hunt, loves to be touched and have his belly rubbed but can't tolerate being held and confined. He is the way he is because his first years were spent as a free roaming barn cat. We went out to the farm one day and when we got back home Sonny jumped out of the car - we must have left the window open in the car when we were at the farm.

We couldn't take him back to the farm for a couple of weeks but by that time Happy and Sonny had bonded and the decision to keep him was taken out of our hands. They became very close and I think Happy's long life and good health had a lot to do with the close intense bond that was formed between Happy and Sonny.

Two very different creatures but between the two of them they seemed to have formed a sort of perfect harmonious yin and yang - I'm convinced they were meant for each other.

Wow , those pictures are Super cute ...

We had a German-Shepherd and a cat that were crazy for each other ( Big brother - little sister ) ..
And when the cat was a kitten ( small ) , she would climb onto the dogs back and sleep on his neck just in front of his shoulder blades . I swear , I have never seen a more nervous relaxed dog in my life ....

I like the last photo a lot. Sorry about your cat, I lost one recently , Quinn', that was about 14 yrs and I still have one of her kittens 'Mia' who is about 12 yrs old. The elderly lady I help with home health care had at least 6 cats most of which were 'elderly' too, a good part of that job was making sure that the cats were taken care of also.

In the last photo, they almost form a perfect "Yin & Yang" symbol! Great photos and the clarity and sharpness of the eyes in the first one is astounding!
