I agree with your choice to soften rather than sharpen. I like the 2nd better. It takes that wonderful portrait to the next level. Can you share what pp technique/tool it is that softens/smooths but maintains edge and hair sharpness?

All I'm going to say aboutthe PP is clone stamp, healing brush layers, blur and brushes, you can then adjust the layer fill and opacity to suit. I also made sort o,f a makeup brush tool in PS to do final touches. A touch up like this can take 5-10 min once you have the brushes made.
