All APS_c in this thread but there was a guy on this trip with a D800 and another with a D810, when they get their images done, maybe well do it again. And it was 2,4 and 5 on FF.

Yes , really Like #3 , It must be the Burst of Light coming through the Tree.

But number 1 has a burst of light, so It must be the pine needle floor, or the light mist making sun rays in number 3. Although #3 does have that "dark mysterious, magical" feel, not to mention you can see my tent through the trees, lower right. But it was #6 that got me started, I like that dead fallen tree.... it made me wonder "if a tree falls in the forest with no one there, does it make a sound?" followed by "If a man speaks in the forest with no woman to hear, is he still wrong?"

None of the above.

It has some sense of mystery. The viewer doesn't want to be told how to feel about an image but rather fill in the blanks himself.
It's often what's not there that gives an image power.
A good photographer is more than a mere copy machine of literal reality.

That was very Zen, I suppose. I'll vote for #5...I'm up for a "micro-landscape" any day.

That's the trouble with picking favourites... I'm not sure I've ever seen a bush like that before, interspersed yellow and green needles. I had to record it for posterity, just so I could say "it happened once."

Canadian yew (aka "ground hemlock") I think. At any rate, y'all don't seem to lack for poison ivy, either.

There's no poison ivy around here, although there is a bit hundreds of miles from here that I know of. W'all can point some out for you if you want it, but you're going to have to drive a bit.
