It is amazing what the effects of millions of years, water and wind has on sandstone. A wonderful place to visit, make sure and put it on your bucket list.

Very nice, I'd like to visit again one day, it's been more than 10 years since the last time I went there.

Bob, this is your fault that another bucket list location has been added.

The colours look amazing, have you tweaked them in any way?

Excellent shot.

Do you know if this area was used as a motion picture site ? That large rock formation on the background looks like it's out of a John Ford movie...John Wayne Westerns , etc.

I can answer that one Les. Yes, there have been a lot of western movies shot on location here the most famous being the trilogy made by John Ford in the late 1930s. There are even points of interest named after John Ford and John Wayne. It's an awe inspiring place to visit.

Beautiful shot Bob. Great POV and composition.

thanks Steve for answering Les' question, I've been on the road the last 3 days and wifi is iffy at best as we stayed on Navajo Nation campgrounds and in Tuba city they don't even have a TV repeater. Thanks for the kind words on the photo. Here is a link where you can click the arrow and it will show you 25 movies that were shot in Monument Valley. thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoy our travels. It was always a dream of ours to travel fulltime and enjoy the sights this great country has to offer. We pulled into the Grand Canyon today, overcast today, rain tomorrow, so I hope to get some photos of the canyon on Wednesday.

thanks so much, this was our 4th visit and I have never gotten tired of traveling through the area. Lots of tourists at this time of year but the area is big enough you really don't notice.

No, I darkened it just a tad but nothing to do with adding saturation. As the day progresses or clouds pass by the colors of the valley change a lot. It's a mystical place in my mind and we will go back again. Glad I could put this one on your list, you won't regret the trip there.
