Originally posted by viktorpus Hi all,
this is my first participation in PF contests, but the chance to win the 50mm prime lens was just too tempting :-)
So why should I win? Perhaps because I've never owned a prime lens, and I am convinced that it would be a perfect companion to my Pentax K-30 with set 18-55 lens. I use this combo primarily for mountain hiking + landscape photography, and I'm very happy with it. (Weather Resistance rocks! I can take pictures while my friends are fearfully hiding their cameras under their waterproof jackets, haha!)
50/f1.8 will allow me to reach more serious portrait and action photography. And perhaps more importantly, I keep hearing that single focal length forces you to concentrate much more on composition and your photos generally, than on your gear. And that's what I'd really like to try.
And here's a photo I took one beautiful evening about a month ago. Hope you like it :-)

Love the subtle background gradient!
