A Gathering of War Birds
Lens: Sigma 28-300mm Hyper-Zoom Camera: K2000 Photo Location: Idaho ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/3000s Aperture: F5.6

I attended the annual Gathering of War Birds air show today and I liked the colors in the first shot. Also in attendance were two young ladies, dressed in the style popular in WWII.

Love the nose art on the tomahwak in the first shot, the colours are realy vivid. I would have like to have seen more of that aircraft, and the reflections from the skin of the Harvard(?) in the background could have made some interesting images.

Well done, good to see

Yes, I too thought of the reflections and the possibilities, but they were in a restricted area and the shot with the P-40 was as close as I could get.

Here's a few more from the show I thought you might like. As I said, they had the planes roped off so access was quite limited. I apologize for the soft focus. I was using a lens that was tried and true, but a camera that was suspect. All the shots I took that day, some 50 or so, were all less that I would have hoped for.

Great set, but as much as I like Corsairs and P-40's, the portrait of the two lasses could be a recruiting poster in its own right.

Absolutely! My thoughts, exactly. The sound of that big radial engine was something to behold!

Dewman, I don't believe the slight softness of the focus detracts from the images, nice shots.

I always enjoy a good series of warbird shots. Looks like you were able to get some great images even with some suspect equipment.

There seems to be some interest in the female "Warbirds," so here's a couple more shots of them. The buttons on the one gal's blouse were straining to contain their charges!

Looks like the were dressed and made up appropriately to the time period of the planes.
