Lucky you being able to watch the birds in flight! I'm guessing this was somewhere near Newcastle?

Yep, and the museum has a deck you can use to take photos from as well.

I hope they still have a viewing deck with a decent view!

This photo below was taken from the museum - I also saw the last airshow with the F111 at Williamtown. There's an album called "planes" in my profile, and I think I posted most of those into the aviation group as well.

Great shot, that would be a 300mm lens?

EXIF says it's a Sigma 75-300 or 70-300.

In fact the lens isn't labelled as a Sigma. It's a Promaster (see signature). Presumably Sigma is the OEM. I was a bit surprised by this; must have been before I got the DA 55-300, but explains why the contrast is a bit low. I haven't used the Promaster since getting the 55-300 because the colour and contrast is so much better from the Pentax lens. The Promaster's focussing motor is very quick though. I'll have to keep an eye on dates for air shows; I haven't had the chance to try the DA*300 yet.

Never knew that there is airshows at Newcastle, or was it a one off event.

It may have been a one-off event for the birthday of the RAAF. I don't think it's a regular thing. The most frequent RAAF airshows are at Point Cook in Victoria, plus they have a large presence at Avalon. I had a press pass for one at Amberley, but the show got cancelled. I must get back out to Temora one weekend! I've added some links below to flying events in Oz this year.

Thanks for comments, I heard the snapping beak of the swallow and just pressed the button in time, Was lucky to get him. But no jets were harmed in the making of this post.
