I used composition adjust to work around the soft edges of the old Sigma 30mm F1.4, shifting the sensor right to maximise sharpness on the left.

Very interesting. I like it! What did you mean by shifting the sensor? Pardon me if that is a noobish question or just because I have no idea how to use that feature (though it doesn't sound like one my K-x would have)

The Shake Reduction system compensates for camera shake by moving the sensor during exposure. Composition Adjust allows the user to manually move the sensor so it is no longer centered behind the lens. This can be used to correct for perspective distortion, much like a tilt/shift lens, only here we're moving the sensor instead. This is also how a technical view camera works.

I wanted to place the centre of the lens closer to the left edge of the image, where the most sharpness-critical elements are. The old Sigma 30mm is notorious for its exceptional centre sharpness and very soft edges at f/1.4.

I knew the sensor moved for SR purposes and dust removal, but did not know this could actually be done that simply. I just looked it up and apparently it started with the K7, so that would explain why I have never seen that option on my K-x. All the more reason to get a 5iis or a K3 down the road
