What size image should I post? With examples.
Posted By: MD Optofonik, 09-19-2014, 12:31 PM

These image examples are based on a screen resolution of 1280 x 800. Extrapolate if necessary.

Too small:

Still to small:

This is a little better but not much. You can still go bigger without ill effect to your image or the browser window:

This is just right for a picture with these dimensions even though it doesn't fill the browser window.
The entire composition is presented without compromise and it doesn't require futzing with the scroll bars to do so like the next example:

This fits and doesn't compromise the image composition or the browser window. While it does fill the browser window from top to bottom
it's a bit fiddly for the viewer to get it to fit perfectly for viewing:

This shows how to ruin the presentation of your picture by destroying the composition. Having to scroll up or down, even slightly, to see the entire image is bad:

Now, lets destroy the composition and the browser window. Your viewers will need to scroll left, right, up, and down to actually see you image (they won't bother) and anyone wanting to view comments will now have to scroll left and right to see all the text (they won't bother):
