Life on a lifeless landscape
Lens: Pentax 55-300mm Camera: k-r Photo Location: W.Va. ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F9.5

The slate dumps where the coal mines dump the rock that isn't coal often reminds me of the face of the moon where there is no life.

The 1st reflects the title better but I would crop out the vegetation in the upper right. The 2nd is also good but I would crop the bright foreground at the bottom. Just my $0.02.

Great shots both and I agree with the little cropping that wtlwdwgn mentioned.
