That is bad news for people planning a vacation in Death Valley. However, there is a lot more to see there. It is really a large area. I never even got close to Scottie's Castle to the north.

Nice graphic look to those shots, Bob.

Lovely shots, sir.
The second and third almost look like the backs of large animals.

It is a major stop for the tour busses coming in from Nevada and a very special place to view Kyle, they should of done the work during the summer.

I've always thought what a great area to be able to photograph if covered in snow, but that doesn't happen too often. thanks for the kind words.

Oh! It's fantastic views, Bob!
I first saw Zabriskie Point in the Michelangelo Antonioni film.

And it was Pink Floyd's soundtrack to the film.

Any idea how long access will be closed? Will it be re-opened by late June next year?

"through March 31, 2015", so you should be fine.

Note that it's an excellent walk to the Point from Golden Canyon, so even when the parking lot up top is off limits I expect you can still get there, or near enough.

Great shots, Bob -- I hope I can get back to DV soon. Are these recent? I'm curious about smoke from all the wildfires.

smoke hasn't bothered us this far south Jeff, you brought up a good point as far as access from Golden Canyon. Only the parking lot and as you walk up to the observation points and paths will be affected. Hiking up the canyon will give you plenty of excellent views but you have to walk a bit and it can be a bit tough for us old guys. We are currently back in Pahrump, Nevada.

make sure and allow plenty of time when visiting, at least a couple of days, the park is quite large and there are many other sights to see in the area. Glad you enjoyed the views from the park.

ZZ, I had forgotten about the movie and soundtrack, really enjoyed viewing and hearing it so many years ago. Thanks for bringing back the memories. Pink Floyd is bringing out a new album next month I believe it is.

These are terrific, buddy. The textures and tonal variations are something else. Great stuff, brother Bob.

hey thanks bud, we try to go into Death Valley at least once a year, really a great place to explore. You'd love it here, not summer though.
