Dan, that is a derelict car! Not sure how you could discover such a interesting subject to photograph (Most of the time, the cars are not old enough here). It reminds me how tragic it looks from viewing the photo.

Sure it is not air conditioning. It is more like smoke salmon with human substitute...

Quick reply, James.

The car is close to where I live, and it is involved in a legal case between the owners and the state. It has a notice on it that says "This car is not to be moved". 10 years on... you can understand why it looks like it does.

I think I should have stopped down a little more, though.

Great use of a subject that you wouldn't normal think to shoot. The color treatment makes it a much more interesting subject.

It was spur of the moment for me. Nothing planned.

All I did was to desaturate the image.

With or without the notice you can still find a lot of these ruins, once called cars, on our streets.

Nice to see the legal system works properly over there too.

My first car was similar to this. It had 440 Air Conditioning... 4 open windows at 40 mile per hour.

Cool shot - heck, just a buff and wax job would bring it back to brand new. I drive a BMW so I'm guessing this is a shot of the new Mercedes

Well aware of that. This one just happened to exist 3 minutes away from my house.

Quite a draft in your car, then.

Meanie!

Although I do agree that new Mercs are a bit trashy.

You posted when I first clicked on the post a pic section last night.

I think you nailed the focus on the bottom of the car. I really liked it. It is a great shot and glad that you enjoyed this lens.

We will see

Thank you again, James.

I'm still rather amazed at how shallow a DOF this lens can produce. It's sharper and neater than any other of my lenses; bar none.

Bokeh is yummy.
