illegal skating in b&w

I feel this shot really shows how far I've come in my photography. Even a few months ago I would've settled on just getting the shot of the statue and it's reflection and been happy with it. Now, waiting and working the scene is the name of the game. I saw the skateboarders approaching from the right and quickly juggled my settings to get to 1/2000s because if the guy was gonna do a trick I only had one shot to get it. Beyond happy with this shot and quit proud of it too.

I say I only had one shot because technically skateboarding is illegal in this park and the police had just arrived. The skateboard dudes got away, and I got a great story.

Great capture! First, pretty much all skateboarding is illegal. Parks don't count. Second, try and take a photo when the skater is at their peak. Just before or when the board hits their feet, or when they just hit a ledge or rail.

In the photography world, this is a great shot. In the skateboarding photography world it is lousy (no offense)

Skateboarding is my main subject. Here's a less artistic and more generic example shot with the 10-17 fisheye. And two more shot with the A135f2.8 prime and M50f1.7

Skateboarding is an amazing, strong (and partially illegal) culture! Have fun shooting!
