One Hour After Leaving Camera Store in Austin
Lens: Sigma DG 500mm 1:5-6.3 Camera: Pentax K3 Photo Location: Park, Austin, Texas ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F5.8
Posted By: sherrvonne, 10-06-2014, 05:17 PM

Was supposed to be grocery shopping with my friends...but I succumbed to LBA and so we took the impromptu Sigma 150-500mm to Mt. Bonnell, Covert Park in Austin, Texas. There was about a hundred steps to climb (or at least it seemed) so I had to pretend that it was easy since it would of looked bad to be holding such a big lens and be all out of breath and such once I reached the top. At that point I realized I would have to use that big lens with no tripod and pretend I wasn't tired. So please excuse any fuzziness. It was the most fun with the K3 so far. A group of Canon guys walked past and I seen their eyes trail the K3 and Sigma 500 as they walked by...
#1 Taken in the parking lot of Precision Camera
#2 Got a smile from this guy
#3 She was the prettiest lady at the park
#4 This man waved at me
#5 My friends looking at the city
#6 My friends see how close the iPhone will photograph a flower
#7 A couple stopped to photograph their pretty dog
#8 When the man noticed I also tried to photograph their dog he purposely stepped in front of the dog so I could not???
#9 Guy chillin in boat in river below
#10 My friends snuck a pic of me with their iPhone, wow I have one nice pic of me which is proof that the K3 does decrease the appearance of wrinkles...

Obviously not too great for maritime photography.

Ha ha, That's right, it hasn't anything to do at all with my insufficient shutterspeed and ISO, evening backlight, no tripod, and lack of experience. It was great fun though, next time I'll be a bit more serious with it.

She didn't lie down, the earth's axis shifted from the weight (I'm expecting earthquakes and other calamities each time sherrvonne handhelds her sigma from now on)

Right... so that's what it is, now I know.

I note no comments from herself just yet, while on lying down on the job.

I ask to 'look' at it at the camera store, but the second the sales lady clicked it onto the K3 I knew I wasn't walking out without it. Today I am going to put it on a tripod and do some tests. I found it was impossible to be inconspicuous in the park using it so I gave up on that and most people around me had fun in the moment too.

Ha ha ha Ya'll, That's it, my arms are still tired and my side of the earth's axis haven't shifted back up yet. I haven't figured out what I am going to target with 'Babe' the Bazooka today. ( Babe is an inside joke between me and my sister since her new husband fancies himself as an electric guitar player in a band and he likes to call my sis 'Babe' and she hates that 'endearment', lol, I told her it goes along with my husband calling me 'heifer' ???, and my cousin referring to women as 'chick'. ) So I will see who or what babe targets today, lol, will have to post pics of my guns after using the lens a few times.

As long as the U.S. government doesn't hand me a bill for every natural disaster in my area....

Did you remember the groceries? I mention that because I have had to explain to my wife why I went out to get cold cuts and came home with a chain saw.

Yes, it was one of those situations.... Telling my husband "I was going to Central Market in Austin with friends" and coming back with $50 worth of groceries and a Sigma 500. I carried the K3/Sigma combo 😍 proudly through the front door and retrieved the groceries last.

The friends, of course, being the K-3 and your new friend the Sigma 500?

Man, I miss Central Market. I brought a bunch of their tortillas back with me, but the supply won't last forever...
