New River Gorge
Posted By: slowpez, 10-07-2014, 07:49 PM

We are currently traveling in the eastern mountain region of the US. These are from the Virginia area of the Blue Ridge mountains. We had hoped for more leaf color but the conditions were not quite right. Maybe we will get lucky with the latter portion of our trip.

Great shots and technique! I especially like the last one... if I were you I'd submit to the PEG.

Wonderful work, the second and the last are superb! Thanks for sharing. And, as Jerry said, go for the PEG!

Great to see you back and not having to fight the traffic and tourists hanging out the mill windows on the weekend. The birders were still counting migration at Mahogany Rock (MP 235 BRP) earlier this week though the numbers have slowed. Next week looks like the burst around our area MP220, Cumberland Knob, and the Blue Ridge Music Center. Mabry done right!

Thanks for the kind thoughts but I have removed all my images from the PEG and am no longer interested in submitting. I do appreciate you both thinking it was good enough however.

The leaf peepers are in full swing now. We are currently in Cades Cove and it is impossible to do the drive though the cove in less than two hours. People seem to be stopping at every meadow without pulling over to let others pass. Thank heavens we are in no hurry and have found some really secluded beautiful places to get away from the crowds.

I'm sure I've seen that mill before--in a PP tutorial, I think. Nice set!

May I ask what led you to that decision?

I was going to ask the same question. I've submitted a handful of pictures to the process and I have an idea why, but I'm curious about your experience.

This is not the place to discuss it I'm afraid. It was a decision I felt I had to make.
