Margam Park House Staircase
Posted By: Gareth, 10-13-2014, 10:22 AM

Loved this staircase when I saw it! There was a big barrier up just in front of where I stood that said no access so I couldn't get up there so had to settle for this view which I think is pretty impressive. It's been used for several productions including: Da Vinci's Demons, Dr Who and also Merlin. The colour version I wanted it to retain that subdued lighting look that was lighting the staircase instead of saturating it to look like a premier red carpet.

Very nicely done. Much prefer the color version. Some people would criticize the converging lines, but they are really more natural looking IMHO.

Great shot of an impressive building, I had a quick Google, looks like the kind of place you really could spend some time at, getting lots of stunning imagery.

Thanks both. Yeah I think the colour has the edge as the red draws your eye in better.

Unfortunately I only seem to go there with family in toe so can't spend the time I want to there but funnily enough I spotted another forum member there which was a small world seeing as we both live in the same area and both had travelled to this same location !!

So that's both Pentax Welsh users at the same place, at the same time, spooky.

Can two be classified as a gang?

I think the whole Scottish contingent at the last count was seven.

Have to agree with Mike on the color. The blue door draws your eye in. Cheers. Jim

An obvious place for a tilt shift, but as Mike says, it looks natural. But my guess is it looks much more impressive in real life. If there's one thing you never get in North America, it's places like this.

Lovely shot of the staircase. I agree the color version is better although the B&W has a period look. If the height of the staircase is as great as it looks here the converging verticals would look natural. If this is an uncropped image there wouldn't be enough room to adjust the verticals without losing some of the staircase. With a K-3 and tripod this would be a good opportunity to play with the shift feature.
