Hood Crunching Snapper
Lens: F35-70 Camera: K200 ISO: 400

Shortly after this shot, I was minus the plastic hood for the lens.
It wasn't in any shape to be fighting over it.
It was about 18 inches in diameter and tougher than me laying on the ground.

You are lucky he did not take fingers as well. Great shot.

Great photo. The Common Snapping Turtle is a magnificent predator. One early spring, when temps were low I took a similar photo with my Canon G 12. Fortunately for me and the G12, it was such a cold morning, the cold blooded snapper had not a chance to warm up and be at it's top speed...reaction wise.
