The many faces of China (5 imgs)
Posted By: xs400, 05-16-2008, 10:50 AM

Some more shots from my recent trip to China.
K100D + DA 50-200mm

I desaturated the colors of this one - I didn't like the original colors.

Nice shots Frank, you've proved you weren't in Chinatown.
I like number 2 best.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Below is #1 without desaturating the colors.

Which do you like better?

I prefer the desaturated one, Frank.

Great photos. The third one is my favourite.

It is actually difficult to get photos of people in China. I had 3 methods of getting my shots without people getting mad or asking me for money. First of all, most of my shots were with the DA 50-200mm, so I could be some distance from my subject. In some cases, I would sort of pan the camera right to left and take the shot just as I got to the scene I wanted. Alternatively, I would put my wife between me and the subject, and take the shot with my wife just out of the frame. My last technique was to take shots through the bus window - this was my most used method.

Wrinkly and tired faces they are, Frank. Well done. The last picture posted (of the post processing) reminds me of a stamp, for some reason.

Nice series! I like the desaturated version better, strange how the original looks like her face was cast in bronze...
