Superb photo. And the depth of field is impresive. Can you tell us how you did it?

Yes I can :

Aperture is set to F32 which is as small as it will go for maximum DOF .
I put a +10 close focus filter on the lens to boost magnification .
The 2nd part is finding a subject with nerves of steel , as the lens will be about 50mm from them .

That particular day was windy , compounded by all that magnification . ( Movement bad - worse under heavy magnification )
So with the lemon tree waving about I had to wait for lulls in the wind . Even then the focus was critical .
Most of the signal flies took off at the sight of the 62mm Close focus lens being showed in their direction . Finally I found a signal fly with nerves of steel and I managed to get about a dozen shots .
Did I mention the wind ? Anyhow only 2 shots were worth keeping and out of those two this one was worth posting .
Extreme Macro , Extreme conditions , extremely unlikely to get good shots ... Main thing is to get out there and take photos , every time you activate the shutter you learn something .

Great capture, nice and dynamic, interesting angle. Amazingly sharp for f32, too! The Tamron did well (or rather, given the conditions, you did)

Agreed. I have learned a lot about macro work from his pictures, in part because he so willingly shares his settings. I once joked that he's the reason I joined this forum (Heaven help us), but it's true. Very helpful individual, and lots of eye candy to look at
