Portraits with new Pentax 645.
Lens: 75mm, 45mm Camera: Pentax 645 Photo Location: Finland ISO: 50

Aka portraits with my new Pentax 645 from 1984... with film. Kodak TMax100 and Ilford PanF plus 50.

I bought this camera some weeks ago in St. Petersburg. These are some results of my test-shootings.

#1 Ilford 50. Like it came out of the scanner. No adjustments. Stativ, two lamps and a patient friend.

#2 Ilford 50

#3 Kodak 100 hand-held ½ sek. I don't know, why it somehow worked.

#4 and #5 contrast tests.

The last two really show off the sharpness of the lens. Nice!

Nice photographs, and I've wanted this camera. You look a little intense in that first one!

Thank you. It's not me, its a friend. And he had to stand still for quite a long time. It's not so easy to focus in low light with the camera.

I especially like that last portrait....incredble to think these are as is, no post and scanned, the clarity and dynamic range is so sharp, great use of the natural light.....

I also did a print of this - with nice baryta paper, I found in an darkroom, I sometimes use. The contrasts, that are in the negativ actually do get on paper as well. I used the hardest contrast filter - but even with my quite little experience, I have now a good print with all different shades of grey in my hands. 20x30cm.

It is worth to consider do try one of the old Pentax 645. It was just pleasure till now.

Thank you. Basically the last face from the Riikka is a little out of focus. It's not so disturbing. It really depends of the size of the print, if it really matters.

I like all the portraits.
The first one is a beautiful portrait, I want a portrait like that of myself...
The third one is great!!!
Somehow the attention is attracted by the musical scores lightened and the eyes, dark and not visible.
I kept on looking both subjects and everytime I look at the other, I noticed something more in the composition. Only after few seconds I have seen the complete scene.
My opinion - yes, I'm not a critic at all, I know - is that this picture of the girl is an absolute masterpiece.
