Raku fired mica clay bowl with etched lid
Lens: smc PENTAX-FA 50mm F1.4 Camera: Pentax K-5 II s Photo Location: Chicagoland ISO: 80 Shutter Speed: 1/150s Aperture: F9.5

This is a product shot of one of my wife's urns, hand-thrown from mica clay on a wheel, fired in a reduction atmosphere (raku), and fitted with a copper lid with an etched pattern. Having recently bought a K5 IIs, I wanted to see what sort of resolution of texture and detail we could achieve. I used a prime 50mm for this shot on a gradient background with one light on the left and a white reflector on the right. All comments, critique welcome.

Thanks. The result of numerous experiments over a few years. Sometimes simple is better

I'd say both you and your wife succeeded. Beautiful pot, beautiful shot.

I also shoot different subjects, you have a very good shot, maybe the background it could be better - that he was a little whiter, but the lighting - you are all excellent - beautiful reflections!

I appreciate photos like these, though we get them rather rarely on these forums. Beautiful bowl, nicely lit
