The skull would have made a interesting ornament, if you can get over the grizzly bit to clean it up. i have only ever done a fish skull, made fish stock then just kept simmering away. Dunno how a rank flamingo skull would boil up tho. Interesting shot by the way.

Interesting you mentioned that....I was very tempted to take the skull actually, the beak, was amazing,,,,,but in the end I felt it was better to leave it......IT was still strongly connected to the neck....perhaps I will go back tomorrow....

Ouch. But very good photo, a very different bird photo than we are used, especially of the elegant, vibrant flamingos. Thanks for sharing

The cycle of life, some thing dies and some thing replaces it.

exactly which is what convinced me to leave it in the end...it felt like it would be best served remaing as part of the natural cycle, rather than pulling it for my own perceived profit....

Yes it is difficult choice and task to take from nature. Cheers.

there is the other, shaman perspective, as well...that is to take these things as blessings that cross our path, preserve and respect their sacredness, and use their beauty and inherent magic with gratitude....I went through a period of a few months where I encountered several dead owls....I preserved the wings and buried the bodies.....

You have answered your own question, the skull and beak would make a great piece and maybe inspire respect of nature in others. Cheers and happy hunting with your camera.
